Kabale University Holds 9th Graduation, Awards Degrees to 1,671 Students
Kabale: Kabale University awarded degrees to 1,671 students across various academic fields during its 9th graduation ceremony held on October 25, 2024 at the university grounds on Kikungiri Hill in Kabale Municipality. Among the graduates, 55 received First-Class honors, and two students made history as the university’s first Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) recipients.
Hon. Adson Kakuru, Chairperson of the University Council, expressed concern over limited university funding, which is struggling to match the growing student population and expanding faculty. He called for greater government support and urged parents to continue guiding their children even after graduation. Kakuru also encouraged graduates to use their skills to improve their communities.
The Chancellor, Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera, urged parents to consider education as an essential investment in their children’s future. He also highlighted the impact of artificial intelligence on the job market, stressing that continuous research is essential to adapt to these changes. Prof. Kagonyera encouraged graduates to remain open to different career paths, advising them not to limit themselves to white-collar jobs but to consider all work opportunities, even those outside their qualifications.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joy Kwesiga reiterated the university’s commitment to academic quality, announcing new programs, including a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, designed to meet the evolving needs of students.
