Kabale Man on the Run After Allegedly Killing His 5-Year-Old Son

Kabale: The territorial police in Kabale are hunting for Maritazari Tumuhereze, a male adult who allegedly murdered his five-year-old biological son, Remegio Turyasingura.

The tragic incident occurred on April 26, 2025 at around 8:00 PM in Kasiru village, Nyombe Parish, Kahungye Sub-county, Kabale District.

It is alleged that earlier that day, at around 2:00 PM, the suspect had a misunderstanding with his wife, Agnes Tumwebaze, at Kasiru Trading Centre. He accused her of bearing another man’s child during his seven-year absence. Tumuhereze reportedly assaulted her at a bar owned by a man named Rogers and again at her mother’s home.

He then proceeded to their home alone, picked up a panga (machete), and attacked the child, killing him instantly by chopping him into pieces. After committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident, saying the suspect is still on the run. He added that investigations are ongoing and efforts to apprehend the suspect are underway.
