Jim Muhwezi Pledges to Continue Parish Scholarship Program for Youth in Rujumbura
Rukungiri: The Minister for Security and Member of Parliament for Rujumbura Constituency, Rt. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, has pledged to continue providing scholarships to students from across the constituency at Rujumbura Institute of Business and Technology (RIBATECH).
Muhwezi made the announcement on December 22, while campaigning in Ruhinda Sub-county. He said that the program targets two students from each of the 47 parishes in Rujumbura Constituency.
According to Muhwezi, he has so far supported 360 students through the scholarship program. He added that every year, he plans to support about 200 students for the next five years.
He explained that the scholarships are not limited to students who completed Senior Four or Senior Six. Even those who completed Primary Seven, or did not complete secondary school, are eligible to apply.

Muhwezi noted that the program mainly targets students from vulnerable families who are willing to pursue technical and vocational skills such as welding, salon and hairdressing, building construction, tailoring, and other practical courses.
He emphasized that the scholarships are awarded without discrimination, adding that even children from opposition families are eligible. He encouraged residents of Rujumbura to pick application forms from his parish agents or directly from RIBATECH.
The minister said the program aims to equip young people with practical skills, create employment opportunities, and reduce school dropout rates in the constituency.
