Jim Muhwezi Covers 91% of Campaign Rallies in Rujumbura Constituency

Rukungiri: The Minister for Security and incumbent Rujumbura County Member of Parliament, Rtd. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, has covered over 91% of his campaign rallies in Rujumbura Constituency as he seeks his final term before his planned retirement in 2031.

Minister Muhwezi has so far concluded campaign rallies in all seven sub-counties and two town councils within the constituency. Out of about 361 villages, he has visited 359, covering 43 of the 47 parishes in Rujumbura Constituency.

He has already covered Bugangari, Buhunga, Bwambara, and Ruhinda sub-counties, as well as Bikurungu and Rwerere town councils. In Nyakagyeme Sub-county, he is left with only 12 villages across 4 parishes.

Jim Muhwezi is scheduled to hold his final rallies in Kahoko and Kinyamawa on January 7, and in Kitimba and Kigaga on January 8.

During his campaign meetings, Minister Muhwezi pledged to extend water and electricity to all villages in the constituency.

He noted that surveys have already been completed and extension works have commenced. He also promised to advocate for the splitting of Rujumbura Constituency into two for better service delivery, lobby for an additional road unit, and improve other community services.

While concluding his rallies in Bwambara Sub-county on January 3, the NRM chairperson for Bwambara, Frank Rukanirwa, who was Muhwezi’s close competitor in the NRM primaries said they are continuing to mobilize support to ensure a landslide victory for Muhwezi.

He appealed to the public, especially those who voted for him in the primaries, to set aside differences and support Jim Muhwezi, adding that voting NRM flag bearers is the surest way to attract government services.
