
Isaac Tumuhimbise nominated for Rukungiri mayorship, promises effective service delivery.
Rukungiri: Isaac Tumuhimbise has been officially nominated to contest in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for Rukungiri municipality mayorship Member of Parliament in the 2026–2031 elections.
Tumuhimbise was nominated on Thursday June 26, 2025 by the Rukungiri district NRM registrar Jackson Mugarura at the party offices.
Addressing the media shortly after his nomination, he affirmed his commitment to delivering effective services aimed at fostering socio-economic transformation in Rukungiri district.
Tumuhimbise revealed that once he is elected into the office of the Mayer, he intends to prioritize fighting insecurity in town, advocate for better business policies, improve education facilities and add street lights in the municipality.
He rallied people to support his candidature for effective service delivery.

The NRM Electoral Commission officially launched the nomination exercise on June 17, 2025.
The process, which runs until June 30, 2025, covers both parliamentary and local government positions.
Nominations for Members of Parliament, LCV Chairpersons, Municipal Mayors and City Mayors are taking place at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters in Kampala, while nominations for other Local Government Council positions are being handled at district-level NRM offices across the country.
