
Intrigue, disagreements plague NRM in Rukungiri
Rukungiri: Members of the ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Rukungiri district have expressed concern over the divisions and intrigue which they say have continuously plagued their party.
These are now calling for genuine reconciliation as the party braces for a heavy mobilization task ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking during a reconciliation meeting held on October 20, at hotel Riverside in Rukungiri town, Boaz Matiita who is holding the NRM flag in the Rukungiri municipality Mayoral race accused the party leadership in the district of fueling disagreements and wrangles in the party.
Matiita called on party leaders to meet in small meetings and resolve their issues before the party plunges into dark days.

Rukungiri District NRM Youth League Chairman Napoleon Levi Tukundane warned that the divisions threaten party unity and future progress.
The Senior Presidential advisor on Agriculture and Local people Peace Rugambwa echoed Matiita’s message revealing that no member is bigger than the party.
She called for quick harmonization of issues before it’s too late.

On his part, the Minister of security and Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Retired Major Gen Jim Muhwezi asked party members who are seeking to run as independents to withdraw from the race and support the official party flag bearers for the good of the party.
