Rukungiri: Innocent Turyahabwe, popularly known as Kaino, of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has been declared the duly elected LC3 Chairperson for Bugangari Sub-County in Rukungiri District.
Turyahabwe won the election with 4,141 votes, defeating Deus Ahimbisibwe of the PFF party, who scored 2,530 votes, and Jaston Byamukama (Independent), who received 29 votes.
He was officially declared the winner on February 5 by the Rukungiri District Electoral Returning Officer, Abas K. Namara, at the Rukungiri District Rally Centre held at the district headquarters.

Shortly after being declared, Turyahabwe told our reporter that he wants to serve a single term in office to demonstrate that leadership is about serving the people, not personal gain. He added that this approach would also give others an opportunity to serve and develop their respective areas.
He thanked God for the victory and expressed gratitude to the people of Bugangari Sub-County for trusting him with their votes. He pledged to work tirelessly to promote development in the sub-county.
His wife, Counsel Sarah Nasike, also thanked God and the people of Bugangari for voting her husband. She described Turyahabwe as a leader committed to extending development to the sub-county and pledged to fully support him in all efforts aimed at developing Bugangari Sub-County.
