Ingrid Turinawe Confirmed as PFF Flag Bearer for Rukungiri Municipality.

Rukungiri: The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has officially confirmed Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe as their flag bearer for the Rukungiri Municipality parliamentary seat.

The announcement was made on Tuesday following a vetting committee meeting held on Monday, where Turinawe was selected over the former Rukungiri Municipality member of parliament aspriant Dr. Wallen Nuwagaba Tumwine and Former member of parliament for Rukungiri Municipality Roland Mugume  Kaginda.

Her confirmation sparked massive celebrations on October 4, with a large procession starting from Kahengye border between Rukungiri and Ntungamo districts, winding through parts of Rukungiri Municipality, and ending at her home in Butagasi Cell, Western Division. Thousands of enthusiastic supporters joined the procession, chanting slogans and pledging their support ahead of the upcoming elections.

Addressing the crowd, Turinawe urged residents to vote for capable and development-oriented leaders committed to transforming the area. She emphasized the need to improve public services in the municipality, including clean water, better healthcare, and improved road infrastructure.

As part of her commitment, Turinawe donated an ambulance to boost healthcare service delivery in Rukungiri Municipality. She described the gesture as a significant step toward improving emergency medical response and access to healthcare.

Turinawe also pledged to prioritize development projects such as establishing a university and a district referral hospital, which she said remain urgent needs for the people of Rukungiri. She vowed to address youth unemployment and promised to be a strong voice in pushing for better pay for arts teachers, many of whom remain on strike.

In her speech, Turinawe expressed gratitude to the PFF leadership for trusting her with the party’s flag and called for unity within the party. She encouraged her former competitors to join her in strengthening the PFF ahead of the elections.

She further promised to advocate for Rukungiri Municipality’s elevation to city status and urged residents to work together for political change. Turinawe also appealed to the public to raise their voices in support of Dr. Kizza Besigye, calling for his release or court bail.

With her candidacy now confirmed, Turinawe is set to rally PFF supporters and position herself as a strong contender in the race for Rukungiri Municipality.
