Horror! Rukungiri police investigates double murder in Buhunga sub-county

Rukungiri: Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances under which two people were murdered in Buhunga Sub County.

According to the District Police Commander (DPC) SSP Musa Tibakirana, the deceased are Ahumuza Enid 56 and Tumuranzye Philip 28 both residents of Buhunga parish in buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri district.

It’s alleged that while in Rugando village of Buhunga parish, Buhunga sub-county Rukungiri district at around 08:00am on Friday 08th September 2023, Tumuranzye attacked and stabbed Ahumuza for yet unknown reasons. Ahumuza unfortunately died on the way while being rushed to Carol Lwanga Hospital Nyakibale for medication.

SSP Tibakirana indicated that after realizing Tumuranzye’s painful act, residents followed him until he was caught and beaten to death

The crime scene was visited by police and the bodies of the deceased were retrieved and taken to Rwakabengo health centre III for postmortem as investigations continue.

Area residents who spoke to our reporter said Tumuranzye was well behaved but has been sometimes experiencing mental illness. Residents suspect that he might have murdered Ahumuza on allegations that she was bewitching community members.
