Hon. Bob Rugonde Fulfills Bridge Construction Pledge, Urges Cooperation Among Local Leaders.
Rukungiri: Hon. Bob Rugonde, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rubabo Constituency, criticized fellow politicians who take credit for developments initiated by others.
Speaking on October 13, 2024, Rugonde expressed his frustration, stating that some politicians only show up after others have addressed key community issues like bridges, roads, and support for schools, churches, and mosques. He emphasized that some leaders refuse to assist communities in times of need, only to appear during election periods seeking votes after the work has been done.
Rugonde made these remarks while fulfilling his pledge of five bags of cement for the completion of a bridge in Rubanga Parish, which connects Katungu, Kisharara, and Rwenyangi cells. Earlier, he had also donated four culverts to support the project.
He urged the local leaders, particularly the chairpersons of Katungu and Kisharara cells, to work together to ensure the bridge is built to a high standard.
The LC2 chairman for Rwakirungura Cell, Rubanga Parish, David Muhumuza, expressed gratitude for Rugonde’s support in providing the culverts. He acknowledged that the new bridge would significantly improve transport and connectivity in the area.
A businessman from Rwenyangi Cell Eridad Nahurira, echoed these sentiments, saying that the poor state of transport had long been a challenge, but with the bridge now in place, they could finally move goods and people with ease.
