General Tumukunde Launches New Bodaboda Stage in Kitaziguruka
Rukungiri: Kitaziguruka Junction Bodaboda Stage, through their association Kitaziguruka Junction Bodaboda Stage Association, has officially launched their new stage.
The launch event was held on June 22, in Marumba C Cell, Kanyina Ward, Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality. It was led by the chief guest the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, Gen. Henry Tumukunde.
While addressing the gathering, the association chairperson Patience Atuheire believed to be the only recognized female bodaboda chairperson in the area said the stage has formed an association with 120 members. The aim is to help members save money, access loans, fight poverty, and grow their incomes. She noted that the association also supports members during times of loss and plans to buy tents and plastic chairs for hire and for use during members’ functions.
As a sign of commitment to development, the association has already purchased plastic chairs, even as it marks just one month of existence.

In his speech, Gen. Tumukunde encouraged the riders to focus on developmental ideas that will help them earn and save more. He advised them to consider importing spare parts from countries like India where they are cheaper, saying this would reduce repair costs and open up new business opportunities for the association.
He also urged the youth to avoid wasting money on luxury expenses such as alcohol and expensive clothes, stressing that young age works for old age. He encouraged them to invest in their children’s education as the surest way to secure a brighter future.
At the event, the Rukungiri Municipality Bodaboda Association the parent body of all bodaboda stages in the area awarded the new stage a certificate of recognition, officially allowing them to begin operations.
