Gen Tumukunde calls for a capital insurance scheme for Retiring Bishops.
Rukungiri: The former presidential candidate Rtd Lieutenant General Henry Tumukunde has rallied Christians to start a capital insurance scheme for the retiring Bishops of North Kigezi diocese so that they can enjoy life in retirement.
General Tumukunde was speaking at the thanksgiving service of Canon Sam Ruharo at Kyamakanda Archdeaconry in Kyamakanda parish, Buyanja sub-county in Rukungiri district.
He revealed that it is important to build good churches but a shame to serve God and become a beggar after retiring from active church service.
Tumukunde contributed one Million shillings to this cause and pledged a consistent annual contribution towards this insurance scheme.
The Bishop of North Kigezi diocese Rt Rev Onesmas Asiimwe welcomed Gen Tumukunde’s idea of insurance scheme saying it will help the emeritus Bishops to overcome world temptations that usually come in the difficult times.
