Fred Birimuye Rallies Supporters to Back Jim Muhwezi After NRM Primaries Defeat

Rukungiri: Former opponent of Security Minister Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi Katugugu in the NRM primaries, Fred Birimuye, has urged the public especially those who voted for him to support Jim Muhwezi, who emerged winner of the recently concluded NRM primaries.

Birimuye made the call on December 16 during campaign rallies for Jim Muhwezi held in Rusheshe and Buhunga parishes in Buhunga Sub-county, Rukungiri District.

Birimuye, who was one of the Seven candidates that contested in the NRM primaries, said he had competed to win the party flag but accepted the results after losing, noting that the election was free and fair within the NRM party framework. He emphasized that his support for Jim Muhwezi was not influenced by money, but by respect for party democracy and unity, since Jim Muhwezi is the official NRM flag bearer.

He urged his supporters to vote for Minister Jim Muhwezi, highlighting the achievements of the NRM government in sectors such as health, education, electricity, peace, and stability. Birimuye warned that voting for opposition candidates could disadvantage the community, as opposition leaders often face challenges in lobbying for government services.

Birimuye further assured his supporters that he intends to contest again in the NRM primaries in 2030, expressing confidence that he will one day get the opportunity to represent the constituency effectively.
