Electoral Commission Launches Voter Education in Buyanja Sub-county
Rukungiri: The Electoral Commission officer for Buyanja Sub-county in Rukungiri District, Sulaiti Amanya, has started a voter education program targeting different audiences in churches, schools, and burial ceremonies.
The program aims to educate voters on the proper guidelines for choosing leaders in the upcoming general elections.
While speaking at Kagati Church of Uganda in Kyamakanda Archdeaconry under North Kigezi Diocese on October 12, Amanya told the congregation that the Electoral Commission has added new polling stations in Buyanja Sub-county to ease congestion and ensure smooth voting in areas with large numbers of voters.
Amanya also spoke about the ongoing NIRA mass enrollment exercise, which began on 27th May, 2025, and is scheduled to end on 27th October, 2025. He noted that the six-month exercise for people without National IDs and those renewing them will close in two weeks. He appealed to everyone to register during this period to obtain their National Identification Numbers (NINs).
