Elder Brother to Country Radio DJ Masjoe Dies After Tree Falls on Police Depot in Kasese

Kasese: A police officer in Kasese District has died after being struck by a falling tree during a heavy rainstorm on the afternoon of June 8.

The deceased, Rodgers Kapili, was based at Mpondwe Police Station in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council. He was also the elder brother of Jockim Masereka, popularly known as DJ Masjoe of Country Radio 87.6 FM.

According to reports, Kapili was inside the police depot when a tree believed to have been loosened by strong winds fell and crashed into the building.

The storm, which affected several parts of western Uganda, caused significant damage, uprooted trees, and disrupted daily activities.

Police have described the incident as a tragic result of the severe weather. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident. The Uganda Police Force has not yet released an official statement.
