Court Case Against Rukungiri NRM Registrar Wright Mwongyera Postponed to July 28th

Rukungiri: The highly anticipated court case involving Rukungiri NRM District Registrar, Wright Mwongyera, has been postponed to Monday, July 28th, due to the absence of magistrates who are reportedly on official leave.

Mwongyera was allegedly arrested on Thursday and detained overnight at Rukungiri Central Police Station. He is facing accusations of tampering with the results of the Rubabo County NRM parliamentary flag bearer race.

According to the complainant, Bob Rugonde, the integrity of the electoral process was compromised when Mwongyera prematurely declared Mathias Rwabugumi as the NRM flag bearer. Rugonde alleges that the declaration was made before results from eight polling stations had been tallied, reportedly following directives from higher authorities.

The postponement of the hearing has intensified public interest in the case, with many awaiting clarity on the legitimacy of the flag bearer selection in Rubabo County.
