Country Radio, Metropolitan University Strengthen Ties With Thrilling Rukungiri Friendly

Rukungiri: Country Radio FM staff defeated Metropolitan International University staff 2:1 in a curtain-raiser before the main friendly match, where Country Radio FM Football Club drew 1:1 with Metropolitan International University Football Club at Rukungiri Main Stadium in Rukungiri Municipality.

The event held on September 12, was a celebration of unity, local talent, and education, highlighted by Metropolitan International University’s offer of bursaries to university-going students.

Sarah Akampurira from Metropolitan International University’s Mbarara branch, appreciated the people of Rukungiri for welcoming them in large numbers. She noted that the university was attracted to Rukungiri because of the strong interest shown by students from the district.

Rukungiri District Chairman, Geoffrey Kyomukama, who was the chief guest, said his office has always supported Metropolitan International University through cooperation and fulfilling assignments given to him by the institution. 

Kyomukama also appealed to Country Radio staff to maintain discipline and focus on development, religion, and family issues instead of fueling community conflicts or spreading false information

Country Radio Station Manager, Jackline Tumuheirwe, represented by Domishiano Ayebare, thanked listeners for their continued love and support. He promised that Country Radio would continue serving without discrimination based on religion, politics, or gender. He added that the station’s friendship with Metropolitan goes beyond football and extends to education.
