Counsel Isaac Atukunda Asks Fellow Candidates to Step Down and Support His Vision for Rukungiri Municipality.

Rukungiri: The aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, Counsel Isaac Atukunda, has called on his fellow contestants to step down and join him in the struggle to improve service delivery and promote the development of Rukungiri Municipality.

He made the remarks on June 17, during a live talk show on Country Radio 87.6 FM, based in Rukungiri Municipality.

Counsel Atukunda emphasized that Rukungiri Municipality needs a leader who truly understands the daily challenges residents face. He said only someone born and raised in the municipality can fully represent the people’s needs and interests.

He expressed concern that for many years, Rukungiri Municipality has been represented by people from outside the area, which he believes has affected effective service delivery. He argued that such leaders often serve people they barely know, which limits their impact.

Atukunda noted that residents of Rukungiri Municipality are struggling with poverty, lack of access to clean water, poor roads, unreliable electricity in some areas, and limited access to quality healthcare.

He urged other candidates to support his bid, saying he was born and married in the municipality and therefore knows every corner of the town. He shared that during his younger years, he worked as a food vendor in the municipality to raise school fees, which gives him a deep understanding of the struggles ordinary people face.

Counsel Atukunda pledged to be a leader for all, without discrimination based on religion, tribe, or political affiliation. He appealed to voters to support him in the upcoming elections so he can take their voices and ideas to the Parliament of Uganda.
