Choose leaders on Merit not Political parties-Rujumbura County Aspirant Charleson Batsigira tells Voters.

Rukungiri: The Rujumbura County aspiring Member of Parliament Charleson Kwikiriza Batsigira has asked voters to elect leaders on merit political parties if they are to get better services.

Charleson was speaking on Sunday April 5, 2025 during the Thanksgiving service of Jonathan Musinguzi held yesterday at Kyamurari church of Uganda under Nyakagyeme Archdeaconary in Nyakagyeme sub-county, Rukungiri district.

He said many areas in the country are grappling with poor services because of electing leaders based on parties even when they lack the basic leadership skills.

Charleson further rallied voters not fear changing leaders once they feel they are not represented well.

He said, people centered leaders know the problems facing people and offer solutions through empowering the population that is apparently struggling in abject poverty.

“These people who buy your votes don’t know your problems and that’s why they cant solve them. When they fall sick, they board planes and seek treatment abroad and you remain with struggling medical facilities if they even exist. They drive the best vehicles that don’t feel potholes whereas our mothers are dying on their way to poorly facilitated hospitals in impassible roads”- Says Charleson.

Speaking at the same event, Rodgers Abaho, the proprietor of AR initiatives called on christians to embrace skills if they are to get out of poverty and solve the current high level of unemployment.

Abaho said the government is currently interested in supporting people with skills.

On his part, Jonathan Musinguzi who is a Boda Boda rider at Rwenshama stage in Rukungiri town said, him and his family were thanking God for sparing them from death which has already taken many of their relatives.

Musinguzi said some people fail to recognize the value of life until they lose relatives.
