Centenary Bank Supports Immaculate Heart Girls’ School Nyakibale With UGX 5 Million for Water Project

Rukungiri: Centenary Bank Rukungiri Branch has extended financial support worth UGX 5 million to Immaculate Heart Girls’ School Nyakibale to facilitate the construction of a new water project aimed at addressing persistent water shortages at the institution.

The cheque handover took place on December 1, at the school premises during the launch of the major water project, which is expected to benefit over 30,000 people within and around the school community.

Speaking at the event, Brian Kasaija, the Centenary Bank Rukungiri Branch Manager, said the bank is committed to supporting initiatives that promote environmental sustainability. He noted that the school hosts a large community of girls who need regular access to clean and safe water to support their academic and daily activities.

Kasaija further emphasized that Immaculate Heart Girls’ School is a valuable partner of Centenary Bank, adding that it would be inappropriate for the bank to withhold support during a time of need.

In her remarks, the headteacher of Immaculate Heart Girls’ School Nyakibale, Sister Sabina Tumusiime, said the school resolved to construct its own water system due to the unreliability of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation supply, which has frequently been inconsistent. She stressed that the school community requires a constant supply of clean and safe water to function effectively.

Sister Tumusiime expressed gratitude to Centenary Bank for the financial contribution, saying the support will significantly boost their efforts to ensure steady access to water at the institution.
