Rukungiri: Centenary Bank has announced a contribution of over UGX 600 million towards the Rotary Cancer Run 2025, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to the fight against cancer in Uganda.

The announcement was delivered on August 31, by the Personal Banker at Centenary Bank Rukungiri Anita Arigye, who represented the bank’s Managing Director, Fabian Kasi, during the Rotary Club of Rukungiri Central’s participation in the nationwide Cancer Run. The annual event aims to raise funds for the completion of LINAC bunkers at Nsambya Hospital Cancer Centre, which will house a modern cancer treatment machine.

In Rukungiri, the run flagged off at 7:00 am from Rukungiri Inn Hotel, drawing in corporate bodies, education leaders, politicians, and hundreds of community members. The event climaxed with aerobics sessions that energized participants.

Delivering the MD’s message, . Arigye noted that Centenary Bank has stood by Rotary for the past 13 years, contributing over UGX 3 billion to the Cancer Run.

“While we run to raise funds for treatment, we must also walk the path of prevention. Early detection gives us a better chance in this fight. Every step taken today is a step towards saving lives,” Mr. Kasi’s message read.

He further emphasized that the bank’s continued support is rooted in its ESG mandate, which prioritizes health, education, environmental conservation, and the church’s social mission.

Speaking at the event, Centenary Bank Rukungiri Branch Manager  Brian Kasaija, applauded the massive community turnout and urged the public to remain vigilant in the fight against cancer.

“Cancer is real, and it kills. Supporting initiatives like these strengthens our communities and saves lives,” Kasaija said.
