
Bwongyera Girls Secondary School Holds PE Festival to Nurture Students’ Talents
Ntungamo: Bwongyera Girls Secondary School in Ntungamo District has held Physical Education (PE) festival competitions aimed at discovering students’ talents and reducing classroom fatigue.
The event took place on October 9, at the school playground in Kihumuro Cell, Nyamunuka Central ward, Nyamunuka Town Council, and featured competitions among Senior One, Senior Two, Senior Three, and Senior Five students.
According to the head of sports, Hadijah Nampebwa, students competed in five disciplines: Aerobics, Poem, Gymnastics, Lesson Delivery, and Dance Sport.

The head of PE, Mathias Agyiresasi, revealed the results, saying Senior Two scored 64 points in Aerobics, 78 points in Poem, 64 in Lesson Delivery, and emerged as the overall winners with a total of 332 points. Senior Three and Five followed with 320 points, while Senior One scored 306 points.
Deputy Headteacher Julius Twine Tashobya commended both the PE department and the participants for their efforts. He encouraged all students to take part in physical activities, reminding them that staying physically fit is key to maintaining good health.

The guest of honour, Yassin Katafa, the Nyamunuka Town Council Speaker and NRM flag bearer for Mayor, applauded the school for promoting PE and nurturing learners’ talents. He expressed hope that the school will perform well in the upcoming district-level competitions.
Katafa urged students to balance academics and sports, noting that both are important for their future success. He also advised candidates to use the remaining time to prepare thoroughly for their final exams.

Founded in 1984, Bwongyera Girls Secondary School currently has an enrollment of about 600 students.
