Breaking News! Lukwago replaces Amuriat as the new FDC party president.
Kampala: A section of members from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) at the ongoing highly contentious delegates’ conference has kicked out President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and replaced him with the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
In a unanimous decision, the embattled members also agreed to remove the party’s Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi from office and replace him with his deputy Harold Kaija. In the same vein, the party’s National Treasurer Geoffrey Ekanya has been axed and replaced with his deputy Francis Mwijukye.
The extraordinary Delegates conference chaired by Ambassador Wasswa Biriggwa at his home in Busabala also attended by FDC’s founding father Retired Col Dr Kiiza Besigye conquered in one voice that the changes take immediate effect and on an interim basis.
Over the past three months, FDC has lived in disagreements arising from accusations of “dirty money” leveraged against the party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi and the Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi.
Enraged members accuse the two and others in their company of obtaining evil money from President Yoweri Museveni during the 2021 general elections.
However both Amuriat and Mafabi deny the claims saying they are unfounded.
