Bishop Rubaramira confirms 230 into Catholic faith at St Peters Katojo Catholic Parish

Rukungiri: The Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira has confirmed 230 Christians into catholic faith at St Peters Katojo Catholic Parish in Katojo ward, Buyanja town council, Rukungiri district.

Bishop Rubaramira in his homily during the mass on Saturday June 22, 2024 emphasised the need for Christians to dwell in the presence of God, hear his teachings and learn what they should do from Jesus Christ.

He rallied Christians to change their mind set in the fight against poverty through starting income generating activities at their homes like planting coffee, noting that the recent statistics indicate that poverty in Kigezi sub region has increased from 12 % to 27%.

Rev Fr Benjamin Tukamushaba, the parish priest for St Peters katojo parish hailed one of the Christians Alex Bob Rugonde for contributing a goat to the parish farm and asked all Christians to fully support the construction of church building.

The parish council vice chairperson Nema Jane highlighted on some of the achievements the parish has registered so far including owning one dairy cattle, goats, hens among others.

She asked Christians to borrow knowledge from the parish and bring income to their homes.

However Nema was quick to point out challenges faced by the parish like lack of land tittle for the parish land and insufficient number of latrines for the growing Christian population.
