Bishop Onesmus tasks Christians to respect the names of their churches.
Rukungiri: Christians have been tasked to protect their names and that of the church if they are to fulfill the true identity of Christianity.
The call was made yesterday by the Bishop of North Kigezi diocese, Rt.Rev Onesmus Asiimwe while officiating at the consecration of Kasheeshe Church of Uganda as St. Mark’s Kasheeshe Church of Uganda in Nyabiteete Archedeconary of North Kigezi Diocese.
Bishop Onesimus further asked Christians to refrain from dependency and stand on their own when it comes to church developments because God is always in control.

Meanwhile, the lay reader of St. Mark’s Kasheshe C.O.U Wycliffe Kwikiriza commeded all the stakeholders who worked for the success of the function and alluded that the church has started the journey of becoming a parish since they have alraedy covered the biggest percentage of the church requirements.

The senior warden at St. Mark’s Kasheeshe C.O.U, Annet Musasizi expressed gratitude for the baptism of their church which she said has marked history in it’s life since inception in 1948.
She however raised concern over a big number of christians who don’t want to attend church services saying that the church has more 350 Christians but a few of them are active.

Naboth Nahurira widely known as “Naboth Kasheeshe aha saloon”, one of the Christians who attended the service, told our reporter that after the Baptism of their church, Christians have the uphill task of defending its name and developing it.
