Bishop Onesimus Condemns corruption, sex for Jobs.
Rukungiri: Leaders have been urged to desist from engaging in corruption that has greatly affected service delivery in Uganda.
The call was made on Wednesday August 14, 2024 by Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe of North Kigezi Diocese during a visit to Rukungiri district headquarters where he held a service for the district employees,
The Bishop said the hospitals are grappling with no medicine to administer to patients because the money that would be used to purchase the drugs is ending in the pockets of a few selfish individuals.
He asked voters not to elect the people who are giving them bribes saying they are the ones that will be engaging in the vice of corruption
Bishop Onesimus used the same platform to advise those seeking the jobs, particularly women, to avoid succumbing to pressure from their potential employers for the sake of an opportunity. He stressed that it is better to lose a job opportunity than to engage in sexual acts.
Speaking at the same event, Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district LCV chairperson, emphasized that co-operation between the government and church leadership is crucial for the district’s development and in the fight against corruption.
He appealed to the church to support different government initiatives that are aimed at improving the livelihood of Ugandans.
The event was attended by public servant’s from different departments at Rukungiri district and other invited dignitaries.
