
Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe Visits Dr. Kiiza Besigye at Luzira Prison, Offers Prayers and Support
National: The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, has visited Dr. Kiiza Besigye at Luzira Upper Prison in Kampala.
The Bishop on June 8, was accompanied by members of the North Kigezi Diocese Kampala Fellowship Leadership, including Lay Canon Alice Turyamureeba, Hon. Winnie Babihuga, Counsel Isaac Atukunda, and Dick Muhwezi.
They were officially received by SSP Bryan Mbaziira, the Officer-in-Charge of Luzira Upper Prison.
The pastoral visit was based on the message in Hebrews 13:3, which encourages Christians to remember those in prison as if they were imprisoned with them.
Bishop Asiimwe led a devotion session and prayed for Dr. Besigye and other inmates. Dr. Besigye thanked the Bishop and his team for the visit and the spiritual encouragement.
The visit ended with Dr. Besigye leading the group in a praise and worship song, showing his appreciation and strong faith.
Dr. Besigye and Hajji Abed Rutale were reportedly abducted in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 16, 2024, and have remained in detention since then.
