Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe Urges Christians to Honour Loved Ones Who Died in Christ

Rukungiri: The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, has urged Christians to always remember their loved ones who died in Christ and to appreciate the good deeds they left behind.

He has made the remarks this afternoon December 30, during a thanksgiving service which was held in memory of the late Yokonia Katunguka. The thanksgiving was organized by the family of the late Katunguka’s in their home located in Kataruka Cell, Kanyinya Ward, Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

The Bishop called on Christians to serve God wholeheartedly, saying that those who do so will never lose anything and that God’s faithfulness is clearly seen in the Katunguka family.

The guest of honour, Hon. Matthew Rukikaire, who’s the caretaker of the Katunguka family, officiated the function and launched the Yokonia Katunguka Foundation. The foundation aims at helping the vulnerable, especially by supporting the education of the girl child, in memory of the late Katunguka’s passion for educating girls.

The late Katunguka served as the Roads Supervisor for the Kigezi region in the early 1990s.

The Bishop was accompanied by the former Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Emeritus Patrick Tugume Tusingwire, the Dean of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, The Very Rev. Amatsiko Niwegariho and the former Dean Canon Herbert Sabiti, who is also a son of the late Yokonia Katunguka.
