Bishop Asiimwe Urges Christians to Reflect and Seek Forgiveness on Good Friday

Rukungiri: As Christians across the world commemorated Good Friday, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, reminded believers that the day is meant to honor Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for the sins of humanity.

Bishop Asiimwe delivered this message on April 18, while addressing the congregation at All Saints Church, where the Way of the Cross procession concluded.

The procession began in the morning at North Kigezi Diocese Cathedral on Kinyasano Hill. Christians, together with the bishop and other clergy, walked on foot while carrying a cross, symbolizing Jesus’ journey to crucifixion. Along the way, they visited Rugarama Health Centre IV and Rukungiri Government Prison.

Bishop Asiimwe encouraged Christians to use Good Friday as a time to reflect on their struggles and sins, urging them to seek forgiveness and healing through confession and prayer.

He further emphasized the importance of deepening one’s faith and spiritual growth, warning that sin can lead to the loss of God’s favor. He urged Christians to live righteously and avoid sinful behavior.

The Bishop also cautioned believers against trusting blindly, citing Judas Iscariot’s betrayal of Jesus as a lesson in discernment and faithfulness.
