
Bikongozo Boda Boda FC Triumphs in Rwabugumi Boda Boda Cup
Rukungiri: Bikongozo Boda Boda FC emerged victorious in yesterday’s matches of the ongoing Rwabugumi Boda Boda Cup in Rubabo County, defeating Kirimbe Boda Boda FC 2-1.
The tournament featured teams from the three parishes of Nyakishenyi Subcounty, Kafunjo, Kirimbe, and Bikongozo and was played at Bikongozo Primary School playground in Nyarushanje Sub county, Rukungiri District.
In the first game, Kafunjo Boda Boda FC faced off against Bikongozo Boda Boda FC, with Bikongozo securing a 2-1 victory. This win advanced them to the next match against Kirimbe, where they claimed another 2-1 victory, making them the overall winners of the group.
Speaking after the match, Hon. Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabugumi, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rubabo County, commended boda boda riders for their participation. He emphasized that the tournament was organized to recognize their unity and talent, as many of them are youths. He encouraged boda boda riders to stay organized and practice financial discipline to improve their livelihoods and attract government support.
Hon. Rwabugumi also highlighted the importance of young people in national development, noting that many are either in school or engaged in work such as boda boda riding. He revealed that each team in the tournament received jerseys for training, and by the end of the competition, Rubabo County will have one representative team.

The District Councilor for Nyakishenyi Sub-County, Brian Bantu, expressed gratitude to Hon. Rwabugumi for fostering unity and supporting young talents among boda boda riders. He urged him not to forget the people of Rubabo, especially Nyakishenyi Sub county, where roads and schools are in dire need of renovation.
The tournament will continue today March 30, at Nangara Primary School playground, where teams from Kisya, Katonya, Omumurama, and Bwanyondo parishes both from Nyakishenyi Sub county will compete. The semifinals and finals are scheduled to take place on April 18, 2025, at Buyanja playground.
