Bad roads, Poor health Services worry Buyanja T/C residents.

Rukungiri: Residents of Buyanja Town Council in Rukungiri district have expressed frustration over the deteriorating state of roads and health services in their area.

Speaking to our reporter during Rwabugumi Boda Boda tournament match day 4 games held at Buyanja Town Council playground in Rukungiri district on Saturday March 15, 2025, residents, including Raymond Akamumpa, Nicholas Tashobya, and Fred Ngorogoza, described the roads as a death trap.

They said most roads in their areas have developed deep potholes which are causing accidents and scaring away the would-be Passengers in need of transport means.

A section of motorcyclists told our reporter that potholes have made some roads impassable and contributed much to the damaging of their motorcycles.

This they say is making them poor because of frequent motorcycle repairs.

Residents also raised concerns over drug shortages at Buyanja Health Centre III, calling on the government to address the issue urgently.

In response, Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabungumi, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rubabo County and currently the secretary for health at the Rukungiri District Council, said poor service delivery is a result of incompetent leaders elected by voters.

Rwabugumi who also represents Nyarushanje sub-county in the Rukungiri district council urged residents to vote for leaders who understand their challenges rather than those who use money to influence elections.

“When you elect people who give you money and don’t know your problems, you will struggle with poor services, bad roads and health facilities without medicine and medical persons. In the coming elections, vote for leaders who know your problems, pass through similar problems as you and are very much ready to solve them” said Rwabugumi.

Meanwhile In the matches played at Buyanja Town Council playground, Omukiragiro Boda Boda FC defeated Buyanja Town Council Boda Boda FC 2-0, while Kyamakanda Boda Boda FC edged out Rubanga Boda Boda FC 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The tournament, organized by Rwabungumi, is still in the group stage and is being played across all sub-counties and town councils in Rubabo constituency.

The next matches will take place today Sunday March 16, 2025 at Mutatuurwa Playground in Kebisoni sub-county.
