Aspiring Western Youth MP Elizabeth Kakwanzi Urges Rukungiri Youth to Embrace Unity and Friendship

Rukungiri: The renowned TikToker and aspiring Western Youth Member of Parliament, Elizabeth Katanywa Kakwanzi, has called upon youth delegates from Rukungiri District to unite and embrace friendship as a foundation for building a better future.

Kakwanzi made the remarks on July 12, during a meeting with youth delegates held at Rukungiri Inn in Rukungiri Municipality.

She pledged that if elected as the Western Youth MP, she would lobby on behalf of the youth to ensure timely access to vital information such as government scholarship opportunities and youth-focused programs.

Kakwanzi also encouraged the youth to embrace a mindset change, set high goals, and engage in economic empowerment initiatives like forming Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) to help them save and invest even the little money they earn.

The Chairperson of the Youth League in Rukungiri District, Levi Tumukunde, highlighted key challenges affecting young leaders, including limited government involvement in decision and policy-making processes, and unequal distribution of national resources.

Tumukunde revealed that youth leaders from the Kigezi sub-region are organizing a Kigezi Youth Chairpersons’ Caucus, aimed at creating a unified platform to amplify the youth’s voice. He said the date for the caucus will be communicated soon.
