Arsonists set ablaze Speakers Vehicle in Kanungu
Kanungu: Police in Kanungu district are actively hunting for yet unknown Arsonists who set on fire a car belonging to the speaker of Kanungu district council.
Its alleged that on the 19th January 2024 at about 11:30pm at Ruyayo village, Kihihi ward, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district, while Ndyabahaki Ronald a son to Byaruhanga Frank, the District speaker Kanungu district council was in the house sleeping with Mwesigye Anthony, heard a loud bang outside and on checking out, they saw their motor vehicle registration number UAX 023S having been set ablaze as two men were taking off from the scene.
They raised an alarm and removed power from the main switch.
sequentially, they tried to put off fire with water and sand but it had already spread to a wider area.
The Scene of the incident was visited by a team of detectives headed by ASP Emmanuel Tumukunde, the OC Kihihi police station.
Detectives immediately condoned off the area and a Police sniffer dog was brought to the scene but nothing positive was achieved.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional spokesperson confirmed the incident and revealed that no suspect has been apprehended so far but inquiries are already at hand.
