Archbishop Kaziimba Directs Churches to Support and Fund Church Choirs
Rukungiri: The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu has directed all churches within the province to begin supporting and funding church choirs as a way of appreciating and motivating their hard work.
The Archbishop made the directive on Sunday March 15, while bidding farewell to the North Kigezi Diocese. The occasion that also marked a thanksgiving service celebrating the third anniversary of the Episcopal ministry of the diocesan bishop, Onesimus Asiimwe, was held at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in Rukungiri Municipality.
Archbishop Kaziimba explained that choir members invest a lot of time and energy in practicing hymns and preparing songs that help deliver meaningful messages during worship. Because of this effort, he said they deserve support from the church, including facilitation for refreshments, transport, and other requirements as they carry out their ministry.
The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, welcomed the move, saying it is important for the church to recognize and support choirs. He noted that praise and worship are an essential part of preaching and spreading the word of God.
