Ankunda Kikira Urges Voters to Choose Leaders, Not Rulers
Rukungiri: The aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, Ankunda Andrew Kikira, has urged the public to vote for leaders, not rulers, in the upcoming elections.
Ankunda made this call on Easter Sunday while handing over a keyboard and microphones to Christians of St. Francis Nyabihinga Catholic Hiika, under Nyakibale Catholic Parish in Eastern Division, Rukungiri District.
He explained that true leaders represent the ideas of the people and work for their well-being, while rulers often forget their mission and instead focus on personal gain.
Ankunda warned the public to be cautious when choosing who to vote for, encouraging them to examine candidates based on what they have already done, what they plan to do, and how they intend to represent the people.
He also emphasized his commitment to supporting government efforts to lift people especially women and youth out of poverty. He encouraged the public to start small income-generating projects like candle-making, bar and liquid soap production, and to form associations.
Ankunda invited residents to submit their proposals to his newly established office in Rukungiri town, where he promised to support them with raw materials to help them produce their products such as jerry, soaps, and more.

The choir chairperson at the same church, Fausta Kikanshemeza, thanked Ankunda Kikira for fulfilling his promises unlike many politicians who make promises and never return. She noted that the keyboard donation would boost their morale in praising the living God.
