85-Year-Old LC1 Chairperson Seeks Presidential Medal After 40 Years of Service

Rukungiri: The Local Council I Chairperson for Rwakiriba Cell in Rusheshe Parish, Buhunga Sub-county, Rukungiri District, Dezi Kyabobo has announced plans to retire after serving the community for 40 years.

He announced this on December 21, while delivering his speech at the campaign rally of Minister Jim Muhwezi in Buhunga Sub-county.

Kyabobo began his service in 1985 and has since been a key local leader in Rusheshe Parish. Now aged 85, he is currently serving as the chairperson of LC1 chairpersons within the parish. As he prepares to step down, Kyabobo has appealed to government authorities to recognize and reward his long and dedicated service.

He specifically called on the President of Uganda to award him a medal as a sign of appreciation for his four decades of service under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.

In response, the Minister for Security, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, praised Kyabobo for his honesty, dedication, and trustworthy leadership over the years.

Maj. Gen. Muhwezi assured him that he would forward his name to the President for consideration for a national medal in recognition of his service.
