6,620 candidates begin PLE in Rukungiri

Rukungiri: A total of 6,620 Primary Seven candidates in Rukungiri district who were registered by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) to sit for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) have begun their final exams.

These are part of 817,998 candidates who were registered to sit for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) this year national wide, of which 428,398 (52%) are females whereas 389,589 (48%) are males.

According to the Rukungiri District Education Officer (DEO) Jackson Turyahumura, exams which began this morning November 3, are being sat from 112 gazetted PLE examination centers across the district.

Among the registered candidates in Rukungiri, 4,367 candidates are from government -aided schools, while 2,253 are from private schools.

While speaking to our reporter in an interview, Turyahumura urged both parents and head teachers to provide meals to all candidates at the examination centers.

He further discouraged candidates from rushing to get lunch from home, warning that the current rains may force them to skip their exams.

Today November 3, candidates began with the mathematics paper in the morning and later Social Studies and Religious Education in the afternoon.

On November 4, they will sit for English Language in the morning and end with Science in the afternoon.
