515 Students Graduate in Patriotism Training at Kyamakanda Secondary School

Rukungiri: Kyamakanda Secondary School in Buyanja Sub-County, Rukungiri District, has passed out 515 students after completing a one-week patriotism training exercise.

The pass out exercise held at the school playground on September 27, involved Senior One, Two, and Five students. According to the school patron, Nathan Tumwesigye, all the students successfully completed the training and qualified for certificates.

Headteacher David Turyamusima Kapira explained that the annual program aims to instill love for the country, discipline, and responsibility among learners. He added that starting next year, teachers will also undergo similar training.

Turyamusima encouraged students to uphold the values they learned, noting that these will be helpful even for those who later join security forces such as the Uganda Police, Uganda People’s Defense Forces, and Uganda Prisons Service.

The Rukungiri District Patriotism Coordinator, Vital Bashasha, said it is his mandate to implement such programs since the Constitution requires every Ugandan to be patriotic. He emphasized that the training mainly targets young people, who are the backbone of Uganda’s future.

Bashasha added that the one-week training focused on four key ideologies: knowledge, financial literacy, sanitation and hygiene, and physical fitness, to prepare learners as responsible citizens.
