4,931 people receive PDM funds in Rukungiri.

Rukungiri: Keith Ainebyoona, the Rukungiri District Commercial Officer has revealed that 65.7% of the 7.5 billion Shillings, the district received under Parish Development Model (PDM) program has been disbursed to beneficiaries.

Speaking from his office at the district Headquarters on Tuesday September 24, 2024, Ainebyoona explained that the district, working with parish chiefs and SACCO leaders, has so far disbursed 4.931 billions.

He noted that 2.569 billion shillings are still on SACCO accounts pending disbursement.

A total of 4,931 beneficiaries have received the funds.

Ainebyoona however highlighted some of challenges they are facing as the district in implementing the PDM program, including unreliable network systems, lack of cooperation from some SACCO leaders, and insufficient resources to facilitate parish chiefs.

The Parish Development Model, a program meant to eradicate poverty through the execution of development activities at the parishes was officially launched by President Yoweri Museveni in Kibuku district on February 26 2022.
