Over 400 Trained with Hands-On Skills to Curb Joblessness in Rujumbura.

Rukungiri: Over 400 people have been equipped with practical skills to help them start income-generating activities and move away from the long wait for office jobs often promised by politicians.

The training was spearheaded by Counsel Stephen Tumuhimbise Ndyanabangi, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Rujumbura constituency and current youth representative in the Rukungiri District Council. The beneficiaries included men, women, and youth, who were trained in making bar soap, liquid soap, shampoo, jelly, and other household products.

The training was concluded over the weekend at Nyabiteete playground, located in Nyabiteete Parish, Bugangari Sub-county, Rukungiri District. In an interview with our news reporter, Tumuhimbise said he introduced the program after realizing that many political leaders make empty promises to fight unemployment but rarely deliver once elected.

He said this is a permanent solution to unemployment in our communities with such skills, people can start earning a living and stop waiting for political promises.

Tumuhimbise also explained that helping people find productive work reduces crime and drug abuse, especially among youth, because they become too engaged in their work to engage in harmful activities.

Tumuhimbise pledged to provide the trained groups with startup materials so they can begin their projects. He also revealed plans to expand the program across all areas of Rujumbura constituency.
