Nurse Onesmus Nasasira Weds Teacher Hellen Kobusingye in Colorful Ceremony

Kabale: Onesmus Nasasira, a nurse and first son of Edson and Enid Bakesigaki, a lay leader at Isingiro Church of Uganda, Hamurwa Parish in Rubanda District has tied the knot with Hellen Kobusingye, an English teacher at Kabale Trinity College. Kobusingye is the daughter of Edson and Loydah Twebaze from Kahungye Parish in Rubaya Sub-county, Kabale District.

The celebrations began with a traditional giveaway ceremony on Friday, May 16, held in Kabaya Village, Kahungye Parish, Kahungye Sub-county, Ndorwa West County, Kabale District. During this event, Kobusingye’s parents officially handed her over to the family of Nasasira.

While preaching at the giveaway, the parish priest of Rubaya Church of Uganda Parish Rev. Dickens Tukamuhabwa, advised the couple to always love and forgive one another. He reminded them that no one is perfect and that forgiveness and respect are key to a successful marriage.

On Saturday, May 17, the couple exchanged their wedding vows at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Rugarama, in the Diocese of Kigezi, located at Rugarama Hill in Kabale Municipality. The ceremony was led by the Dean of the Cathedral, The Very Rev. Canon Obed Turihohabwe.

The wedding reception took place at Palm Valley Gardens, Mwanjari, where the Archdeacon of Nyaruhanga Archdeaconry Ven. Rev. Noah Kyoma, urged the couple to maintain the love they shared on their wedding day. He encouraged Kobusingye to respect her husband and Nasasira to love his wife if they are to enjoy a happy marriage. He also advised them to keep their family matters private and work steadily towards success without greed.

In their speech, Kobusingye’s parents, Edson and Loydah Twebaze, asked Nasasira to protect and love their daughter sincerely. Nasasira’s parents, Edson and Enid Bakesigaki, praised their son as a humble and obedient person and expressed hope that his new family would be peaceful and united.

The bride, Hellen Kobusingye, thanked her parents for their love, education, and continuous support. She also appreciated her friends, fellow teachers, and the director of Kabale Trinity College, who mentored and later employed her.

In his remarks, Onesmus Nasasira expressed gratitude to his parents, family members, and all who supported him through his journey. He promised to always love and take care of his new family.

The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Catherine Ndamira, the aspiring Woman MP for Kabale District, Inid Origumisiriza, and other prominent people graced the function.
