Rukungiri: Hon. Andrew Ankunda Kikira, who is vying for the Rukungiri Municipality Parliamentary seat, has donated a hand pump borehole worth UGX 9.5 million and food supplies, including 100 kg of posho and rice, to Rukungiri Main Mosque.
The donation was made on March 7, at Rukungiri Main Mosque, located in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality. During the groundbreaking ceremony for the borehole construction, Ankunda stated that he decided to support the mosque as part of his efforts to assist the Muslim community, which has been struggling with a lack of clean and safe water.
Speaking at the launch, Hon. Ankunda revealed that he partnered with the Nile Humanitarian Development Agency, a non-governmental organization, to ensure the Muslim community has access to water daily. He emphasized that water is essential, especially for Muslims during prayers, which is why he decided to donate the borehole to ease their burden.

In addition to the borehole, Ankunda also donated a water harvesting tank to the mosque and urged the leadership and entire Muslim community to ensure proper usage and routine maintenance of both the borehole and the tank. He added that the relief food was meant to assist them during the holy month of Ramadan.
